Please note -

For Masters students

  • Masters students starting in September are expected to work on their dissertation or project throughout the summer – for these students, this period between the end of the university's Semester 3 and their course end date is not a vacation. For masters students, only Christmas (end of the study week in the university's Semester 1 to the beginning of the university's Semester 1 Examination Period) and Easter (end of the university's Semester 2 and the beginning of the university's Semester 3 Study Period) are vacations.
  • Masters students starting in January are expected to work on their dissertation or project throughout the summer – for these students, this period between the end of the university's Semester 3 and the start of the university's Semester 1 is not a vacation. For masters students, only Easter (end of the university's Semester 2 and the beginning of the university's Semester 3 Study Period) and Christmas (end of the study week in the university's Semester 1 to the beginning of the university's Semester 1 Examination Period) are vacations.

  • PhD students do not follow this pattern of attendance – vacations should be agreed in writing with their supervisor(s).
