A partnership between Barts Health NHS Trust, Queen Mary University of London and Waltham Forest College has launched a healthcare and life sciences training hub, which will serve as a centre for new training and career opportunities for its local communities.

A partnership between Barts Health NHS Trust, Queen Mary University of London and Waltham Forest College has launched a Healthcare and Life Sciences Hub, which will serve as a centre for new training and career opportunities for its local communities.
The hub will offer:
- T Level qualifications
- Specialist training in healthcare and healthcare sciences
- State of the art facilities, including a simulation hospital ward and training cadaver
- Work placements and internships, and learning directly from Barts’ professionals
- Educating and training opportunities with its local hospital Whipps Cross, to support skills shortages and key developments in priority areas
- Support to current NHS staff, offering professional development courses in leadership, management and clinical skills.
- Career development opportunities within Barts Health and the community
The partnership will introduce new pathways in healthcare and life sciences and new training opportunities to local communities and students across London. The Hub will work closely with its local hospital Whipps Cross, supporting skills shortages and key developments in priority areas including elderly and community care, and other local healthcare skills priorities.
The Hub’s facilities will include a simulation space with realistic settings such as a hospital ward and training cadaver, providing students with hands-on opportunities in a professional environment. Students will also benefit from career support and guidance, work placements and internships, learning directly from Barts’ professionals.
