Co-sponsoring Multi-Academy School Trusts

Queen Mary’s co-sponsorship of both Trusts is a core part of our civic commitment to East London and our sector leadership in social mobility. 

Drapers’ MAT and University Schools Trust are two of Queen Mary’s strategic civic partners and are represented on our Civic Advisory Board by Darren Luckhurst (CEO, Drapers’ MAT) and Gillian Kemp (Trust Leader, UST).    

Queen Mary’s academic and professional services staff serve as Trustees and Governors for Drapers’ MAT and University Schools Trust. They work closely with co-sponsors, partners and the executive teams to shape the strategic development of both Trusts. Queen Mary also delivers a sustained programme of support to improve educational outcomes and raise career aspirations for pupils and students at the schools in both Trusts. Activities include workshops and campus visits, opportunities to participate in Queen Mary Futures and other outreach programmes, 1:1 subject support for GCSE and A level students, and support for parents and carers, including through the Parent Power initiative with The Brilliant Club.
