N20 Know the Risks

N2O Know the Risks is a collaborative public health initiative aimed at raising awareness about the neurological and health dangers of abusing nitrous oxide, or laughing gas.

London has seen a rise in spinal-cord injuries, particularly among young, Asian men which can be directly attributed to NOX abuse. The initiative employs community workshops delivered via youth groups in Tower Hamlets to engage teenagers in interactive sessions and raise awareness as well as training local enforcement officers, so they can provide early, street-level advice which enhances early intervention.

Queen Mary has contributed by studying better hospital treatment protocols and providing supervision over clinical aspects of treatment.
