Sustainability in Accountancy

When: Tuesday, February 18, 2025, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Where: Montagu Lecture Theatre, GC601, Graduate Centre, Mile End

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a high priority across the higher education sector and is strongly linked to efforts to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. At Queen Mary, we have been developing a baseline sustainability literacy module as part of a funded project through the Queen Mary Principal and President Education Excellence Award. With our roots in international accounting and finance education, we are committed to innovative pedagogical approaches, fully integrating AI and Green Skills into our curriculum. One of the indicators of SDG4 (Quality Education) is that by 2030, all learners should acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development.

We look forward to discussing the latest developments from the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW) and our industry partner, NetZeroNow. Additionally, we will be joined by a PhD Research Candidate in Sustainable Finance from King's College London. Our goal is to support our staff and students in addressing significant awarding gaps and ensuring that ESD goals and principles are fully represented.
