Profile

Project Title: Gazing from Within: The Politics of Spectatorship in Immersive Projection Rooms.

Supervisors: Prof Lucy Bolton and Dr Mario Slugan.

Originally trained in philosophy, I am interested in understanding how immersive media actively shape power by challenging the traditional notions of subjectivity, embodiment, and the gaze. My thesis, titled “Gazing from Within: The Politics of Spectatorship in Immersive Projection-Rooms”, approaches these questions from a feminist, posthumanist, and new-materialist perspective. This project was funded by Queen Mary HSS Principal’s Research Studentship, and my research has been supported, among others, by BAFTSS, the American Society of Aesthetics, and the British Society for Aesthetics.

Previous qualifications:

BA in Philosophy (cum laude) at the University of Pavia and Collegio Ghislieri (Pavia, Italy);

MA in Film and Philosophy (with distinction) at King’s College London.
