SING SING SCREENING + Q&A
As a part of Black History Month 2025, our BLOC Cinema is screening Sing Sing. Divine G, imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men.

As a part of the Black History Month 2025, the library Services have curated an online reading list as well as an in-person book display along some highlights from our archives.

ERNEST COLE - LOST AND FOUND SCREENING + Q&A
As a part of Black History Month 2025, our BLOC Cinema is screening Ernest Cole – Lost and Found. A documentary which follows Ernest Cole's journey as the first Black freelance photographer in apartheid South Africa.

Family Threads; Heart, Home and History
Family Threads: Heart, Home and History is a photography display that showcases the family history of its African and Caribbean Community Researchers. These family photos span from 1900 to the 1970s, featuring Nigeria, South Africa, Trinidad, Antigua and the UK.

A STORY LEFT BEHIND SCREENING + WORKSHOP
As a part of Black History Month 2025, our BLOC Cinema is screening A Story Left Behind. A young British-Somali researcher discovers a record of the first Somali woman to live in Sheffield and fills in the gaps of her story.

As a part of Black History Month 2025, our BLOC Cinema is screening Nickel Boys. A powerful friendship develops between two young Black men as they navigate the harrowing trials of reform school together.

As a part of Black History Month 2025, our BLOC Cinema is screening Fatherless No More. Chronicles the journey of an Orlando-based pastor and former Super Bowl Champion who was inspired to move into an RV at Rikers Island.
