Limb Reconstruction Fellowship

A clinician adjusting a metal brace frame on a patient's legThis is a unique and truly comprehensive fellowship opportunity, offering the full spectrum of limb reconstruction experience. Two fellow positions are based between The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and The Royal London Hospital; two world renowned tertiary referral centres for trauma and elective surgery.

Successful candidates will rotate in six-month placements in the two units. They will experience the full range of limb reconstruction surgery in adult and paediatric elective and trauma settings with a wide diversity of mentors and expertise. This will include adult and paediatric deformity, trauma, orthoplastics and bone infection.

What will you do as a fellow?

The fellowship encompasses consecutive 6-month placements at each of the two host institutions and provides excellent opportunities for clinical and professional development. Throughout the duration of the fellowship there are regular meetings between the Units. The fellows will be expected to engage in the planning and delivery of services as well in research and service improvement projects.

Requirements

These are competitive posts. UK and International applicants are welcome. Applicants require full GMC registration and are required to have completed their higher orthopaedic training programme. Successful candidates are limb reconstruction enthusiasts with a desire to develop their skills and knowledge across the diversity of trauma, orthoplastics, adult and paediatric deformity, limb lengthening and bone infection.

Fellows have a background of finishing projects, publishing research, running QI projects and enjoying teaching/mentoring junior members of the team.

Fellows are expected to deliver on one major research project during each their 6-month posts, with close collaboration with the ‘twinned’ fellow to synergise efforts.
