Centre for Immunobiology

The Centre for Immunobiology and Infection combines cutting-edge research with top-quality education in all areas of immunology and infection. Our research investigates the major mechanisms by which the immune system functions and interacts with pathogens, with the ultimate aim of easing the burden of major immune-related and infectious diseases. Our areas of research include:

  • Tuberculosis
  • HIV
  • Viral respiratory infections, including SARS-CoV-2 and influenza
  • Inflammatory bowel disease and enteropathies of the developing world
  • Liver diseases such as hepatitis C, hepatitis B, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
  • The immune response to major trauma
  • Platelet-related diseases
  • The immune system in ageing
  • Sarcoidosis
