Adrian is Clinical Professor of Respiratory Infection & Immunity at the Blizard Institute, where he leads the Queen Mary & Barts Health Tuberculosis Centre and the Centre for Immunobiology. His current tuberculosis research focuses on development of new blood biomarkers of tuberculosis infection and disease. He has previously worked to evaluate a potential role for vitamin D supplementation in prevention or treatment of tuberculosis and acute respiratory infections.
Veronica is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Barts Health NHS Trust, where she leads the Tuberculosis service, and Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Immunobiology at the Blizard Institute. She is Clinical Lead for the Queen Mary & Barts Health Tuberculosis Centre. She has a special interest in extra-pulmonary tuberculosis, including spinal and ocular TB, and sits on the British Thoracic Society’s UK Joint Tuberculosis Committee.
Amy is a tuberculosis survivor who has extensive experience in advocacy, patient involvement and public engagement on tuberculosis. She is Chair and Facilitator of the TB Action Group, and Lead for Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement at Queen Mary & Barts Health Tuberculosis Centre.
Graeme is Clinical Professor of Infectious Diseases in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Cape Town. He is an Infectious Diseases physician and clinician scientist, whose research focuses on clinical conditions affecting patients with advanced HIV disease including disseminated HIV-associated tuberculosis, the tuberculosis-associated immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (TB-IRIS) and cryptococcal meningitis. His group also investigates drug-resistant tuberculosis and evaluates diagnostics for HIV-associated tuberculosis. He has served on several WHO Guideline Development Groups addressing management of drug-susceptible and drug-resistant tuberculosis, HIV and Mpox.
Dan is Professor of Molecular Immunology in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute. He leads research to characterise effects of loss-of-function, gain-of-function and hyper/hypomorphic gene variants on host responses to M. tuberculosis in collaboration with Genes & Health, he world’s largest community-based study of genetics and health in British Bangladeshis and British Pakistanis.
Chris is Professor of Primary Care at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health and Co-Director of the Centre for Applied Respiratory Research Innovation and Impact (CARRii). He is leading on evaluation of innovations to Barts Health TB Services, including implementation of sputum induction, near-patient GeneXpert and post-TB clinics.
Reinout is Clinical Professor of Tuberculosis in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute, and Professor of Global Health and Infectious Diseases in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Radboud University. He is an Infectious Diseases physician and clinician scientist, whose research focuses on genetic determinants of susceptibility to TB, resistance to tuberculosis infection, tuberculosis in people with diabetes, and tuberculous meningitis.
Simon is Senior Clinical Development Director at GlaxoSmithKline, Honorary Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases and Honorary Professor of Infectious Diseases in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute. His research focuses on treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and developing new TB drugs. He is co-lead of Queen Mary’s Online PGCert in Tuberculosis.
Dominik is Clinical Reader in Infectious Disease Epidemiology in Wolfson Institute of Population Health and Blizard Institute. He is also General Practitioner. His tuberculosis research focuses on migrant health and screening/ early detection and treatment of tuberculosis infection including in primary care. He is co-lead of Queen Mary’s Online PGCert in Tuberculosis.
Heinke is Clinical Reader in Respiratory Medicine in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute, and a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Barts Health NHS Trust. She conducts research on screening and treatment for tuberculosis infection with a focus on migrants. She is member of the British Thoracic Society’s steering group and clinical advisory panel on multi-drug resistant tuberculosis.
Robin is Clinical Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Infectious Diseases in the Centre for Genomics and Child Health, Blizard Institute. His research focuses on the spectrum of childhood tuberculosis, spanning paediatric immunity to tuberculosis infection through to diagnostics for tuberculous meningitis.
Angharad is Consultant Neurologist at Barts Health NHS Trust and Clinical Senior Lecturer in Neurology in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute. She is also a Visiting Scientist, Tuberculosis Laboratory (Wilkinson Group), The Francis Crick Institute and an Honorary Research Associate, Wellcome Centre for Infectious Diseases Research in Africa, University of Cape Town. Her research focuses on pathogenesis, treatment and sequelae of cerebral tuberculosis.
Divya is Lecturer in Microbiology in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute. Her current research interests lie in understanding early interactions between M. tuberculosis and host immune cells, with a primary focus on macrophages. Current research in her group focuses on discovery of novel targets for antimycobacterial drugs, with a particular emphasis on combining anti-virulence therapy with chemotherapy as a novel therapeutic strategy.
David is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Epidemiology and Statistics in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute. He leads on Statistics and Data Management for the TB Centre. He has previously conducted clinical trials and meta-analyses evaluating the role of vitamin D in the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis.
Anne is a Health Economist, trainee infectious diseases physician and honorary clinical research fellow in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute. Her research focuses on health economic evaluation of TB service innovations to reduce diagnostic delay and improve clinical outcomes in people with sequelae of tuberculosis.
Ximena is a Consultant in Infection at Barts Health NHS Trust. She will lead on implementation of near-patient sputum testing using GeneXpert platforms installed at Barts Health TB Clinics.
Mathina is Consultant Respiratory Physician at Barts Health NHS Trust, where she leads the TB Service for Whipps Cross University Hospital.
Rory is Consultant Respiratory Physician at Barts Health NHS Trust, where he leads the TB Service for Newham University Hospital.
Mildred is a Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology at Barts Health NHS Trust and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Centre for Genomics and Child Health, Blizard Institute. She is Clinical Lead for Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the Royal London Hospital, where she also leads the Paediatric TB Service.
Susan is a Consultant Paediatrician at Barts Health NHS Trust. She leads the Paediatric TB Service at Newham University Hospital.
Sue is Lead TB Nurse at Barts Health NHS Trust. She has several decades of experience looking after complex TB patients and over the last 7 years has led the TB nursing service at Barts Health. She is working with Veronica White to implement the clinical service innovations across the Trust. Specifically, she will be leading on implementation of the new sputum induction service, while working with the microbiology team to optimise the use of GeneXpert in our TB clinics.
Freddy is Content Developer for Centre of the Cell, Queen Mary’s unique informal science learning centre. Their public offerings range from online videogames, presentations, hands-on interactive workshops, and a multimedia experience (STEM Pod), which combines film, projection mapping and interactive displays. Freddy will lead Centre of the Cell activities to engage patient, families and communities around TB.
Sheena is the Research Co-Ordinator for the Queen Mary & Barts Health Tuberculosis Centre in the Centre for Immunobiology, Blizard Institute. She works closely with Amy McConville (Lead for Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement) to facilitate peer support for people undergoing TB treatment, and peer review of research proposals by TB survivors in our Patient and Public Involvement Group.
Matt is a physiotherapist who trained in Australia and has built extensive healthcare experience across diverse settings in both the UK and Australia. Currently working as the Service Manager at Barts Health NHS Trust, Matt is supporting clinical and non-clinical teams to implement the enhanced multidisciplinary team model of care for Tuberculosis. He has over 14 years of experience spanning roles as a clinician, project manager, clinical service manager, improvement lead, and research assistant across multiple healthcare organisations including Barts, BHRUT, NSW Health, and University of Technology Sydney. Matt brings a comprehensive understanding of healthcare transformation that drives improved patient outcomes.
