The Visual Cultures and Film Section of the CAGCR facilitates screenings and research events concerning Anglo-German encounters and exchanges in the visual arts and in the cultural history of representations.

Key areas of research in the section include: 

  • the transnational history of the disciplines of art history and museum studies
  • the circulation of concepts, artists, artworks and films between English and German language cultural traditions 
  • the moving image in relation to contemporary political and philosophical questions in the interface between the English and German speaking worlds
