What is QMentoring?
QMentoring is a six month programme that runs from November to May. Mentors meet with their mentee a minimum of once per month. Find out more about how being a QMentor can benefit students, and what our requirements are for becoming a QMentor.
Benefits for students
This programme is designed to enable students to:
- Access careers support from an experienced professional;
- Gain insight to an industry or profession;
- Start to build a professional network;
- Learn how to write persuasive job applications, CVs and cover letters;
- Acquire skills to perform well in an interview;
- Where possible, participate in office visits, work experience, or other industry opportunities.
“By participating in the QMentoring programme, I have been able to enhance my professional development and interpersonal skills. One of my most valuable experiences was visiting my mentor at his workplace. This helped me thoroughly understand what type of candidates employers are looking for and which qualities they prioritise. Overall, this experience has helped me bridge the gap between university and the workplace. I know how to make better job applications and how to stand out within a competitive industry.”
- Shamyla Ahmad, 2025 QMentee

Testimonial
“Volunteering for the QMentoring programme was a truly rewarding experience. It was a great opportunity to give back and support the next generation graduating from Queen Mary. The programme gave me a fresh perspective on how much the industry and student mindset continue to evolve. I'm grateful to have been part of a supportive initiative that fosters growth, confidence, and community."
-Md. Muntasir Sarker, 2025 QMentor
