Transition to Work series
We are excited to announce a new project run by Careers and Advice and Counselling for international students to help you transition to work after your studies.
Please note: This series is aimed at PGT international students due to complete in September 2025 and who hold a Student visa
There will be 3 sessions, and each session will cover a different theme around working in the UK. You must commit to attending all 3 sessions.
The sessions will involve facilitated discussions and sharing good practice about working and work rights. We hope we can all learn from each other! There will also be a chance to feed back on your own experiences. Any common issues raised during this forum will reported to Queen Mary’s International Student Experience Steering Group for further consideration. It will also influence our lobbying work, so it’s a good opportunity to get your voice heard.
What are the themes and when do they take place?
Session 1: Starting the job search and diagnosing your potential barriers to success (21 May 2025 15:30-17:00)
Session 2: Understand and explain your rights in the UK and the values you can bring to UK employers (4 June 2025 15:30-17:00)
Session 3: Alumni panel – how have former QM students explained their rights and found work in the UK (11 June 2025 15:30-17:00)
Where will they take place?
The Yurt in St Benet’s Chaplaincy on the Mile End Campus
Spaces are limited to 30 students, so be quick! If it looks like there are no spaces left, sign up to the waiting list, and we’ll let you know if more spaces become available. Please only sign up if you will be attending all 3 sessions as this is a 3-part series with limited spaces!
