Philip Denny Mathew
Philip Denny Mathew was a Roy Goode Scholar and graduated in 2024 from the Intellectual Property Law LLM programme. He shares what he's been doing since he graduated, and how the Roy Goode Scholarship supported him during his studies.

Pursuing an LLM in the UK without financial support is extremely hard for most students, especially for someone coming from abroad. Receiving the Roy Goode Scholarship not only made it possible for me to complete my LLM without any sort of financial stress, but also gave me a real boost in confidence. That encouragement led me to start a property development and management company in India, where I now work full-time as the legal specialist.
I have also been developing legal content for a new and upcoming legal newsletter based in India, and in June 2025, I secured the role of the Human Frontier Collective Legal Fellow with Scale AI. I truly believe none of this would have been possible without the opportunity to pursue my LLM, which in turn, would not have been possible without the support of the Roy Goode Scholarship.
