3VB's International Women’s Day Event-Afternoon Tea with Lady Vivien Rose
3VB celebrated the achievements of women in law with guest speaker Lady Rose, Justice of the Supreme Court
On March 5, 2025, postgraduate students from CCLS had the privilege of attending the International Women’s Day Afternoon Tea at The Parliament Chamber, The Honourable Society of The Inner Temple, thanks to Professor Rosa Lastra’s invitation.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with members of 3VB and the broader legal community. The highlight of the afternoon was the keynote speech by Lady Vivien Rose, Justice of the Supreme Court. She shared her remarkable journey from the Bar to the Supreme Court, reflecting on her experiences as one of the first female members admitted to the Bar and her career in advocacy, government legal service, and the judiciary.
Lady Rose also discussed some of the significant cases she has worked on, including Libyan Investment Authority v. Goldman Sachs and a case concerning Caravaggio paintings. Her insights into these high-profile disputes, along with her perspective on the evolving role of women in the legal profession, provided valuable insights.
The event was an excellent opportunity for attendees to gain professional insights and celebrate the achievements of women in the legal field.
