Chief Executive of the Swedish Securities Markets Association and CCLS Alumnus, Urban Funered

We are proud to share Urban’s illustrious career from completing an LLM at CCLS back in 1991 to the present day.

Urban Funered (International Business Law LLM, 1991) has more than 30 years of experience from the financial services sector and has during his career held senior positions in law firms, investment banks and asset managers in Stockholm, New York, Vienna, and London. He has held senior positions in the Swedish Ministry of Finance and Swedish Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels. 

Urban has an academic background in law and business administration, with Master’s and Post-Graduate Degrees in Civil, Banking and Financial law from the University of Lund and Queen Mary & Westfield College of London University, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration and Economics Degree from the School of Economics and Management at the University of Lund. 
Urban Funered has been Chief Executive Officer of the Swedish Securities Markets Association, an association founded in 1908 and representing banks, investment banks and brokers active in Swedish securities markets, since February 2019. He is also currently a Chairman and Board Member of Swedsec Licensiering in Stockholm and of International Council of Securities Associations in London.

Urban Funered has previously held positions as Director of Public Policy at Fidelity International in London and Vienna (2014 – 2019), Minister and Financial Services Attaché at the Swedish Permanent Representation to the European Union (2010 – 2014), State Secretary, Senior Adviser, and Special Adviser at the Swedish Ministry of Finance (2007 – 2010), Group Compliance Officer at Carnegie Investment Bank (2005 – 2007), Legal Counsel in the Corporate Finance Department at Carnegie Investment Bank (1999 - 2005), Legal Counsel with the law firms Vinge in Stockholm and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom in New York (1993-1999), Researcher and Lecturer in Civil Law at Lund University (1990 - 1993) and Judge Clerk in the Swedish Civil and Administrative Courts (1988 - 1990).
