Rising Star for Türkiye Intellectual Property Law 2025
CCLS alumna Begüm Alpaslan collects two prestigious law accolades.

Begüm Alpaslan (Intellectual Property Law LLM, 2025) has been named a Rising Star for Türkiye in the 2025 edition of Managing IP’s IP STARS rankings and a Leading Associate by The Legal 500 in the same year. These recognitions mark important milestones in her professional journey and highlight her growing contribution to the field of intellectual property law.
Begüm is an Intellectual Property lawyer with broad experience across all areas of IP at a leading IP law firm in Türkiye. Over the course of her career, she has advised domestic and international clients across a range of industries on trademark, patent, design, and unfair competition matters. Her practice covers prosecution, litigation, and enforcement, combining a deep understanding of legal principles with a practical awareness of commercial needs. Her approach is marked by legal precision, strategic thinking and a strong commitment to client excellence.
Awarded the prestigious Jean Monnet Scholarship, Begüm pursued an LLM in Intellectual Property (IP) Law at Queen Mary University of London’s Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS), at Paris campus. Motivated by a desire to explore IP Law from a comparative and theoretical perspective, Begüm joined the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) to strengthen her academic foundation and gain exposure to international approaches to IP law and policy.
During her LLM, Begüm has focused on international and comparative aspects of IP law, while also engaging with technology, media and telecommunications law and arbitration. The programme has provided opportunities to engage deeply with European and global frameworks, discuss contemporary IP challenges with peers from diverse jurisdictions, and reflect on how legal systems evolve to meet the changing realities of creativity, commerce, and technology.
Begüm’s recognitions by leading international publications underscore her professional achievements and ongoing contribution to the legal field. She was named the inaugural “Rising Star” in Türkiye by Managing IP in 2024 and listed as a “Rising Star” by IP STARS (by Managing IP) in 2024 as well. Being recognised again in 2025, alongside her inclusion as a “Leading Associate” by The Legal 500, reflects her sustained commitment to excellence and continued development as a practitioner.
Begüm credits her time at CCLS for expanding her understanding of IP law beyond national boundaries and for offering a truly global academic experience. She describes her studies as both intellectually demanding and rewarding, a chance to connect theory with practice and to learn from a diverse community of scholars and professionals.
She believes that the academic rigour and international scope of CCLS have deepened her perspective as a lawyer and strengthened her ability to approach legal questions with creativity and comparative insight. For Begüm, the experience has reinforced her commitment to contributing to the advancement of intellectual property law in Türkiye and beyond.
