Childhood Immunisations
Explore the CEG Childhood Immunisations toolkit, which helps GP practices navigate the complex immunisation schedule and protect more children on time
Our Childhood Immunisation toolkit includes a software tool, clinical data entry template, support searches and a dashboard, all supported by the guidance and expertise of CEG facilitators. These components are available to practices and their partners across North East London - explore the resources below or contact your CEG facilitator to get started.

APL-Imms call/recall tool
- Available for EMIS Web and SystmOne across North East London - find out more
APL-Imms enables GP teams to identify all pre-school children registered with their practice whose vaccinations are due or overdue, review each child’s vaccination record at a glance, and access information to support conversations with parents.
Template
'CEG Childhood Immunisation'
- Available in EMIS Web and SystmOne across North East London
Our clinical data entry template makes it easy for the nursing and admin teams to use the correct codes to document the vaccinations they administer, as well as other relevant information including contraindications, invitations and refusals.
The template also includes pioneering functions to support equitable care:
- Codes for foreign immunisation schedules, for recording vaccinations given abroad;
- Catch-up plans for children aged ten years and over, to support vaccination of children who missed the routine schedule;
- Recording potential markers of disadvantage, including ethnicity and the need for an interpreter;
- Recording reasons why parents refuse vaccinations so it can be analysed at practice level;
- Quick links to resources to support the clinician and the parents.
Searches
- Available across North East London in your Practice Support folder, subfolder 5: Immunisations & Vaccinations
Our Childhood Immunisation Data Quality searches help practices to identify coding errors that may impact their uptake data, income, and accuracy of their call/recall system. The set is only available in EMIS Web, which is where you usually see this type of error.
We also provide searches to help identify infants who are at risk of Hepatitis B because their mothers are positive for the condition.
Dashboards
'CEG Timely Childhood Immunisation'
- Available in the online Dashboards Hub, on the NEL-wide page
We developed our own dashboard to help practices focus on timely vaccinations. Each cohort starts one month after the ideal age for vaccine administration. Unlike national COVER dashboards, the data reflects changes promptly to allow opportunity for interventions. It also estimates workload and hesitancy burden. Unlike QOF, our dashboard allows benchmarking and shows trends at practice, PCN and Place level thanks to its interactive Power BI design.
We also publish quarterly and annual COVER dashboards that give our ICS colleagues an early preview of the childhood immunisation uptake data that will be published by NHS Digital months later. These also show trends and comparisons at practice, PCN and Place level.
