Hogstad has a master's degree in psychology from University of Oslo (2012) and a Ph.D. in Health and Social Care - professional practices from Molde University College/Volda University College (2021). In her research, Hogstad is particularly concerned with welfare state professionals in encounters with children and families in their everyday life. Central research topics are: professional practice in encounters with young children, children's participation, children's grief and social, historical and cultural understandings of childhood.
