Profile

My current methodologies and research practices are framed by feminist new materialism, which foregrounds a concern with worldly justice through critical engagements with early childhood policy, curricular frameworks and pedagogical approaches. I have published over 150 journal papers. My books include Narratives from the Nursery: negotiating professional identities in Early Childhood (Routledge, 2012), Post-developmental Approaches to Play (2025) and Feminists Researching Gendered Childhoods (2019). I am a series editor of Feminist Thought in Childhood Research (Bloomsbury) and Key Thinkers in Education (Springer). I sit on the editorial boards of Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood, Childhood Art. I recently stepped down as Editor of Gender & Education Journal. I continue to sit on the editorial board for Reconceptualising Education Research Methodology Journal.
