Dr. Amber van der Wal is an Assistant Professor at the University of Amsterdam. Her research focuses on the intersection of youth, social media, and mental health, studying how young people interact with algorithmically curated content and how these interactions affect their mental health. Amber's research also addresses the need for ethically-sourced and human-centered design principles that protect vulnerable users by developing and and testing youth-centered tools to foster digital agency, helping adolescents better understand and navigate their online environments.
