Prof Amanda Machin

Amanda Machin is a political sociologist with a specialisation in environmental politics and​ radical democracy. After completing her PhD at the University of Westminster, London with Chantal Mouffe she moved to Germany to take up positions at various universities and research institutes and was awarded an Habilitation from Zeppelin University, Friedrichshafen where she was mentored by Nico Stehr. She is interested in the dynamics, identifications, imaginaries, discourses and bodies of socio-ecological transformation and she has published numerous articles on these topics with journals such as Environmental Politics, Environmental Values , WIREs Climate Change and Democratic Theory. Her books have been published by Routledge, Zed Books, World Scientific and Transcript. Amanda has been invited as a speaker and panellist at academic and public events in cities including Wroclaw, Prague, Berlin, Graz, Copenhagen and Kiel. Together with Marcel Wissenburg, she is currently editing a collection entitled Environmental Political Theory in the Anthropocene for Edward Elgar.
