Dr Sabine Weiland

Principal Investigator at ICL and WP4 lead

Sabine Weiland is Associate Professor of Political Science at the Catholic University of Lille, affiliated with the European School of Political and Social Sciences (ESPOL). She was the Director of the ESPOL-Lab Research Centre for European and International Politics from 2018 to 2023.

Sabine holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Göttingen, Germany. She participated in various national, European and international research projects in the field of environmental and sustainability governance, food politics, and science-policy interface. Before her appointment at the Catholic University of Lille, she was working at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ, Leipzig, Freie Universität Berlin, Catholic University Louvain, and IDDRI/Sciences-Po Paris. She is also involved in the Earth System Governance project, in particular the ‘Taskforce on the Sustainable Development Goals’.

Sabine’s research interests are in sustainability governance and societal transformation, food politics, environmental politics, reflexive governance and policy learning, science-policy interfaces, and inter- and transdisciplinary research.
