Dr. Ioana Ruxandra Moraru, FGDent, SFHEA, is Programme Lead for the BSc (Oral Health) at Queen Mary University of London.
She graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” in Bucharest, where she began her academic career as an Academic Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation (Postgraduate). She later obtained the Consultant title in General Stomatology and went on to lead the Department of Oral Health and Behavioural Sciences before joining QMUL in 2009. From 2009 to 2020, she served as Academic Clinical Lead for the Southend Academic Dental Clinic, Outreach for Dentistry.
Her PhD focused on the prevention of periodontal disease and dental caries in institutionalized teenagers with learning difficulties, integrating clinical, behavioural, and preventive dimensions.
Her current work builds on her experience as an educator for dental and DHT students, with a strong commitment to professional and interdisciplinary integration and collaboration.
Her research spans dental education, AI in healthcare, ethics of AI, narrative medicine, digital culture and medical education, treatment planning, outreach teaching, and oral health–related quality of life.
She also contributes as a reviewer and mentor with the Teaching Recognition Panel of QM Academy, supporting professional development and recognition in higher education.
