Celebrating Academic Excellence and Innovation Across the Queen Mary–BUPT Joint Programme

The showcase was attended by Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and BUPT academic staff, external examiners, and students from Year 2 to Year 4, who were all actively engaged in the event. The audience had the opportunity to witness student excellence across various domains, from foundational learning to final-year research and design.

Recognising Innovation and Achievement
The event opened with remarks that set the tone for a day of recognition and reflection. It was followed by the F2T Programme Prize Giving, where outstanding Year 2 students were acknowledged for their learning journey and development.
Next, the Design & Build Awards celebrated innovative team projects developed by Year 3 students. Winning groups presented their work through live demonstrations, impressing the audience with both technical quality and originality.

SEED Awards and Interdisciplinary Showcase
A highlight of the programme was the SEED (Student Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Development) Awards, generously supported and presented by Ling from QMA. These awards recognised students who displayed entrepreneurial thinking and initiative beyond the classroom.
We were also pleased to invite Dr. Cindy Yan, who introduced the outcomes of the first cross-disciplinary JP module — Scientific Thinking and Artistic Expression. The module showcased creative and analytical thinking, with students presenting artworks that explored scientific themes through visual expression. These exhibits added a thought-provoking and artistic element to the event.
Celebrating Final Year Excellence
The event concluded with a poster session by Year 4 students, who presented their final year projects. These projects reflected months of dedicated work and academic supervision. Students stood by their posters, answered audience questions, and received valuable feedback from staff, guests, and peers.

A Successful Collaboration
The showcase was a resounding success, leaving a strong impression on both external examiners and academic colleagues from QMUL and BUPT. It was a proud moment for the programme, highlighting its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and cross-cultural collaboration.
