The MedTech Venture Builder is a 12-month, two-stage initiative designed to accelerate early-stage medical technologies into investment-ready healthcare ventures. It provides hands-on executive support for medical innovations, offering MedTech entrepreneurs the tools and confidence to transition from bench to bedside to boardroom. The programme includes foundational training and tailored execution support, covering areas such as regulatory guidance, market validation, quality systems, and investor readiness.
CE-Track aims to advance real-time tracking for capsule endoscopy by integrating it with wearable technology—enhancing the precision of gastrointestinal diagnostics. This multidisciplinary innovation leverages cutting-edge sensing technologies, machine learning, and clinical expertise to enable intelligent, real-time patient monitoring and decision-making tools.
Professor Akram Alomainy, Deputy Dean for Postgraduate Research in the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Professor of Antennas and Applied Electromagnetics at EECS shared his enthusiasm for the programme. He highlighted its potential to significantly accelerate their vision for smarter, connected healthcare technologies, and acknowledged the continued support from Queen Mary Innovation.
The 2025–2026 MedTech Venture Builder cohort includes 15 early-stage ventures across 12 innovation areas, such as Imaging & AI, Dental care, Surgery, Mental Health & Neurotechnology, Gastrointestinal health, Women’s health, Cancer, Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI), Prosthetics, Physiotherapy rehabilitation, BioSensors, and Wound care. Among the selected ventures, 60% are pre-spinout/spinouts and 40% are independent startups. In terms of technology focus, 66.7% involve a mix of hardware and software, 20% are hardware-based, and 13.3% are Software as a Medical Device (SaaMD).
The programme began with a high-energy three-day bootcamp. Consortium partners include King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London, City St George’s, University of London, and Meridian Health Ventures.
