Why did you choose to study your programme and why Queen Mary?
I chose this program as it covers both AI and cloud computing. I decided to study this at Queen Mary because of its world ranking and the fact that it is part of the Russel Group.
What did you most enjoy about your course?
I enjoyed how multi-disciplinary it was which allowed me to venture into different topics like AI and Edge Computing.
What are you proud of from your experience at Queen Mary?
Without a doubt, my dissertation. I believe technology should be used to improve living standards and to make people’s lives better and I think I had the opportunity to tackle an innovative challenge in the field of AI.
Which modules did you enjoy the most and were there any academics that had a strong influence on shaping your time and studies here?
Throughout my studies, I particularly enjoyed the Big Data Processing and Principles of Machine Learning modules because they offered engaging and fascinating coursework. Dr. Ahmed Sayed was especially influential to me, as I also worked with him on my dissertation. The topic he provided was highly innovative and significantly shaped my academic journey.
Were you a member of any societies or attend any industry events during your time at Queen Mary? If so which and what did you gain from them?
I joined the board game club to unwind after studying and have a bit of fun. Additionally, I attended career fairs, which allowed me to connect with recruiters and explore job opportunities
What is your current position? How have you applied the skills and knowledge you have gained in your programme to your current career?
I am currently working as a Formal Verification Engineer in Hemel Hempstead, a role I secured three months after graduation. I believe what I bring to this position is a willingness to learn and an openness to new challenges. While my current job differs from my academic studies, my education fostered creativity and the confidence to explore new areas.
What's one piece of advice you'd offer to someone considering studying your programme at Queen Mary?
I would suggest that if they are interested in working in the industry that they should start learning the job goal skills needed alongside their studies to prepare them better for the job market.
