George Lansbury (1859 -1940), MP for Bromley and Bow, Cabinet Minister and Leader of the Labour Party was a Christian Socialist, Pacifist and passionate supporter of the Suffragettes and man of the people, worshipped with his wife Bessie and their family in St. Mary’s Church, Bow. We have pleasure in inviting you to a service to celebrate the life and times of ‘Good Old George’. There will be an exhibition and, after the service, tea and cakes. We will unveil a plaque to mark GL’s remarkable contribution to the people of Bow and Bromley, the Labour Party and political life in this country.
