In her book Wir Strebermigranten (Hanser, 2017), Emilia Smechowski tells her personal story of immigration: a fascinating tale of shame and fierce ambition, of liberation and self-assertion, and of the collective experience of Polish immigrants in Germany. At our event, she will read from her book, followed by a Q&A in German+English. The reading will be in German.
