Profile
Fayrouz Yousfi is a Postdoctoral Research Associate working with Dr Carlo Inverardi-Ferri on the ERC-funded project Illicit Labour. Her current research examines how Morocco’s transition to solar energy, from photovoltaic manufacturing to large-scale initiatives such as the Noor project, reshapes labour, land, and natural resources. It highlights how green development can deepen precarity, dispossession, and global inequalities, often concealed behind sustainability narratives.
Fayrouz holds a PhD in Political Science from Ghent University. Her doctoral research explored how women farmworkers in southern Morocco mobilise and resist within neoliberal agricultural economies characterised by precarity and union decline. It demonstrates that their political agency frequently emerges outside formal institutions. Her work reveals how struggles from the margins of the neoliberal countryside are redefining labour politics and collective action.
