Queen Mary's School of Geography received outstanding results in NSS 2025, with students reporting sector-leading experiences in teaching, support and feedback. 

The School of Geography at Queen Mary University of London received outstanding feedback in the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS), reaffirming its position as a national leader in student satisfaction, teaching quality, and academic support.

In this independent, anonymous survey of final-year students across the UK, the School again ranked among the top institutions in the country for the overall quality of its Geography, Environmental Science, and Human Geography courses — and led London and Russell Group universities in several key categories.

Human Geography students also rated their programme in the top 10 nationally for academic support and fairness of marking and assessment.  
  • We assess fairly and provide timely, helpful feedback: We ranked joint 2nd in the Russell Group and top in London for Assessment and Feedback (Geography, Earth and Environmental Studies). Geography was in the top 5 nationally for feedback returned on time, and in the top 10 for use of assessments that reflect what you’ve learned.   
  • We offer outstanding teaching and learning experiences: The School ranks in the top 5 within the Russell Group for learning opportunities (Geography, Earth and Environmental Studies), and is the leading institution in London for teaching, learning, assessment, support, organisation, and student voice in Environmental Science.
