Staff elections to Council 2025
The ballot is now open for voting for three vacancies on Council, the governing body of Queen Mary University of London:
- Academic staff member (All faculties)
These positions are available from 01 September 2025 for an initial four year term with the option to renew for a second four year term subject to re-election.

Ballot
The ballot is open from Monday 07 July and will close on Monday 21 July at 5pm. All current staff members of the University in a professional services, research or academic role, are eligible to vote in these elections. You can access the online ballot via this link [you must use your QM account]. The count will be conducted using the Single Transferrable Vote (STV) system.

Queen Mary Council
Council is the governing body of Queen Mary University of London. Members listen to, discuss, and constructively challenge the Senior Executive in relation to the 2030 Strategy, the way we use public funds, how we manage our finances, and how we comply with our statutory obligations.
The membership of Council comprises five elected Queen Mary staff members and individuals external to the University who have been recruited to bring expertise, knowledge and experience from other sectors to support the University in delivering its mission and achieving its strategy. All members have a responsibility to act in the best interests of Queen Mary and do not act as representatives of a particular staff group, school, institute, or department.
