The Council elections are run using the Single Transferrable Vote system which allows voters to rank candidates by preference making for a fairer result. All staff were emailed a link to the online voting system which was run on Microsoft forms. The ballot was open from July 7th to 21st.
Candidates self-nominated and were required to write an election statement for publication on the website and online ballot. All candidates were given the opportunity to have a call with a current Council member prior to the ballot going live.
21 nominations had been received for the three academic staff member (all faculties) positions.
Council
Council is the governing body of Queen Mary University of London. Members listen to, discuss, and constructively challenge the senior executive in relation to the university strategy, the use of public funds, the management of our finances, and compliance with our statutory obligations.
The Council membership includes both Queen Mary staff and individuals external to the university, including five elected members of academic and Professional Services staff. Members have a responsibility to act in the best interests of Queen Mary and not as representatives of a particular staff group, school, institute, or department.
