BLACK HISTORY NOW: STAFF / STUDENT FORUM

When: Thursday, October 27, 2022, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Where: ArtsTwo Building, Senior Common Room , Mile End

Please join us for this open discussion on the form and futures of Black History, organised by the History Society and the School of History, Queen Mary University of London.

All are welcome to join the discussion, or just listen in. Participants will be invited to share an event, figure or artefact which, for them, captures something important about ‘Black History’. What themes are associated with this field? What has been over-looked or under-researched? How does Black History connect to and influence our present moment? This discussion is prompted by Black History Month, but is also a space to reflect critically on public historical initiatives, the narratives they privilege and the question of what they leave out.

This event is part of a new School of History initiative that brings students and staff together to discuss important questions related to public history and historical commemoration.
