PUBLIC DOCUMENTARY FILM SCREENING
& ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION WITH FILMMAKERS

On 23 November, we will be bringing in the director, producer, writers and participants in the documentary We Are Waltham Forest, a documentary about the 2012 anti-EDL demonstration that place in Walthamstow. The film looks at the rationale as well as strategy that was behind organising the so-called ‘We Are Waltham Forest’ demo. In the process, it argues that anti-racist political protest is an important part of a functioning democracy. The makers of the documentary will be having lunch with students in the ArtsTwo SCR from 1:00-2:00pm where they are looking forward to chatting about why and how they made this amazing documentary. This is open to all students. Please do come take advantage of this very unique opportunity.

In the evening, from 6:30, there will be a screening of the documentary with a three-person panel discussing the goals behind making the documentary and the outcomes they had hoped to achieve. There will also be free vegan and halal food available during the evening event.

If you have any interest in understanding why and how documentaries are made, this would be an excellent event to attend! The lunch is just for QM School of History students, while the screening is a public event that you are very welcome to attend.

You can watch a preview of the documentary before screening here.
