First Aid Skills Update - HS037

Course Summary 
This first aid skills update is an annual refresher of content taught in the accredited 1-day and 3-day first aid courses along with updates on changes to protocols.    

Duration 
This is a three-hour course. 

 Delivery 
This is an in-person classroom-based course. 

Delegates  
This course is open to Queen Mary permanent staff who have attended either the accredited 1-day or 3-day first aid courses and whose certificates are in date.  

Summary Outcome / Content 
A range of subjects are covered including: 

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting 
  • Control of bleeding 
  • Poisoning 
  • Asthma 
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty 
  • Shock (including Anaphylaxis) 
  • Bandaging 
  • Diabetes 
  • Fractures and spinal injuries 
  • Heart attacks 
  • Choking 
  • Stroke 
  • Resuscitation and AED awareness 
  • Head injuries 
  • Eye injuries 
  • Burns 
  • Assessment of the situation 
  • Sprains and strains 
  • Chest injuries 
  • Epilepsy 

An attendance certificate will be issued to the learner, subject to successful completion
