Fire Marshal - HS016
Course Summary
This non-accredited course is designed for QMUL staff to act in the role of Fire Marshals. The course will teach candidates about the causes and effects of fire and how it spreads. Fire Marshals are expected to act as eyes and ears within their workplace by identifying potential fire hazards, carrying out regular checks, reporting defects and assisting in the evacuation of occupied buildings.

2.5 hours
Delivery
One day face to face taught course with exercises, group work, practice fire drill and an end of course test.
Delegates
For staff who have volunteered, or who have been nominated, to undertake the role of Fire Marshal at the University.
Summary
The course objectives are for Fire Marshals to be able to know or demonstrate:
- Why is safe evacuation important?
- How are our buildings protected?
- How to protect yourself during a fire evacuation?
- How do Fire Marshals support the evacuation process?
- Who might need additional support?
- How do you report to Security at your assembly point?
- Know how to report any issues during an evacuation?
At the end of the course, delegates will be issued their Fire Marshal jackets.
