First Aid Awareness - HS039
Course Summary
Course content is in line with the 3-day First Aid at Work classroom course. Whilst not all subjects have been covered, this course will teach you how to deal with most of the first aid incidents that can occur whilst you are at work.

Delegates
This course is aimed at all Queen Mary staff and Post Graduate Students. There is no requirement for you to have had any first aid training prior to completing this course.
Summary Outcome / Content
A range of subjects are covered including:
- Understanding the role and responsibilities of someone administering first aid.
- Be able to carry out an assessment in the event of an incident.
- Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty, a casualty with breathing difficulties e.g. drowning, choking, asthma and a casualty with external bleeding and/or who is in shock.
- Know how to administer first aid to a casualty with burns, anaphylaxis and ssuspected major illness e.g. seizures, heart attack, stroke.
A completion certificate can be downloaded once the learner has gained an 80% pass mark in the learner understanding quiz.
