Adult Mental Health First Aid (2 days)
Course Summary
This accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions and the support and help that can be provided. It incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace. It will allow you to gain knowledge on how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue. It will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis, and potentially stop a crisis from happening.
Duration
This course is delivered over two days, 09:00-17:00 hrs.

This is an in-person classroom-based course.
Delegates
This course is open to all Queen Mary permanent staff. Places are allocated on a business need basis. For example, if one school has sufficient mental health first aiders then places on the courses are allocated elsewhere. Although these courses can go towards someone’s CPD and is ideal for many roles it is not their primary function, which is to ensure Queen Mary is compliant under The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the First Aid Regulations 1981.

A Level 3 Award in First Aid for Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment (multiple choice question paper at the end of each day). This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.
