Citizenship is about contributing to the Queen Mary community. It encompasses a range of activities, including:
Being a champion for the University and its work
- Taking pride in the achievements of Queen Mary colleagues across the University
- Sharing and promoting those achievements within your professional networks
- Actively using the support available (https://connected.qmul.ac.uk/our-brand/) to ensure a consistent, professional presentation of Queen Mary both in terms of key messages and facts, and visual identity
Supporting others to achieve their goals
- Advising, mentoring or coaching others
- Hosting a job shadow
Developing the Queen Mary community
- Being involved in a community of practice
- Leading a social group e.g. running club
- Being a Staff Survey Champion
- Be a Queen Mary Bystander - challenge unacceptable behaviour, encouraging inclusivity and collegiality in everything we do
Ensuring the wellbeing of others
- Acting as a mental health first aider
Actively contributing to university life and the governance of Queen Mary
- Contributing positively to School/Institute, Faculty or University committees
- Contributing to policy development
- Involvement in, or leadership of, culture change within a discipline or team
- Contributing to School, Faculty or University strategic activity
- Volunteering for Clearing/Open Days

- Participation and leadership of staff affinity networks;
- Participation and leadership of gender equality activity via Athena Swan;
- Participation and leadership of Equality Diversity & Inclusion activity via school/institute/directorate action plans;
- Participation and leadership of People, Culture & Inclusion Enabling Plan activities across the university;
- Participation and leadership of activity to further an Inclusive Curriculum;
- Participation and leadership of University EDI action groups; EDISG, Race Equality Action Group, Gender Equality Action Group, PHASE and Disability Action Group
