Elliott

Elliott (he/him) joined the team in June 2022 as Head of Student Support. Elliott also acts as the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry’s Deputy Local Safeguarding Officer.

Elliott’s Wellbeing Tip:

Always try to aim for a healthy balance between study, work, exercise, social activities and pursuing independent interests. The balance might be different at different times, for example during holiday periods or exams, but it’s still important to not neglect any of these needs, especially during times when you might feel stressed.

Spending an hour with a friend or watching trashy TV away from revision or coursework can help refocus your mind and enable you to find study more manageable than staring at a screen for hours at a time. See this as an investment in sustaining yourself with study rather than feeling guilty for taking necessary time away.

How Elliott manages feelings of overwhelm:

I lean on my friends and family during stressful periods and find it really helpful to talk things through and get another perspective on issues I’m facing.

I also have a varied exercise routine – I tend to go to the gym alone, but run, attend dance classes and go climbing with friends and find that mixing exercise with socialising is particularly beneficial to my overall wellbeing and enables me to focus and be present in a fun activity unrelated to what might be causing me stress.
