Humaira’s Wellbeing Tip:

Keep a daily or weekly gratitude or “things that went well” list.

I find it so easy to focus on the things that are not going as planned and much harder to see the daily small things that are going right in our lives, no matter how small. Keeping a gratitude list doesn’t discount the difficulties we are experiencing, but it can help improve mood and wellbeing. I try to keep a running list of things that I am grateful for, and seeing a long list of things that are going right in my life helps me maintain emotional balance - especially when life feels hard.

How Humaira manages feelings of overwhelm:

My faith plays a big role in helping me to manage feelings of overwhelm. It gives me a sense of calm when I feel overwhelmed.

If I need to, I also speak to family and friends, either to get some help, advice or a different perspective on the situation. Practically, if there is something in my control that I can do to reduce feeling overwhelmed, then I like to plan, break things down into realistic tasks and do what I can. This often helps me feel like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
