Annie is a Reader in Medical Education at Queen Mary's University, London. She is the academic lead for the online MA programme, teaches on the campus MA and is the lead facilitator for the current MBBS curriculum review.
Before joining QMUL, Annie worked at the University of Bristol, as the Programme Director for the MSc Health Professions Education, the Education Director for the medical school and the Deputy Faculty health sciences education Director for Post Graduate taught programmes. Annie was responsible for ensuring the high-quality design and delivery of all taught programmes, writng business and academic cases for new programme consultation, cross-faculty development workshops and advising and guiding on all pedagogical design and innovation. She is passionate in delivering a master's level programme that all healthcare professionals will find relevant and useful to their everyday clinical work and supporting all those who wish to develop a career in health professions education.
Annie has a clinical background, working as a senior paediatric intensive care nurse for many years, at Guys Hospital and Bristol Children's Hospital, then held educator positions as the Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Resuscitation and the Paediatric Simulation Education Co-Ordinator.
Annie holds a Doctorate in Education, with her research concentrated on the capital of professional titles and their influence on the negotiation of clinical decision-making across healthcare professional boundaries. Her additional research interests include curriculum design and delivery, interprofessional collaboration, workplace learning, and assessment methodologies.
