Profile

Professor Ricardo Khine is a HCPC registered Therapeutic Radiographer, with over 25 years’ experience in Radiotherapy & Oncology and with 15 years in academia. His clinical career has also seen him work internationally in Australia and the United States of America.

Prior to joining IHSE he was Professor & Head of School for the School of Health and Social Care Professions at Buckinghamshire New University, where he was responsible for the strategic leadership and management, teaching and research activity and overseeing  a number of programmes including Paramedicine, Physiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiography, Physician Associates, Community Health and Social Work.

He has held various leadership positions including Head of Department / Divisional Lead for Midwifery & Radiography at City, St Georges’ University of London and Post-Registration Lead for Therapeutic Radiography at London South Bank University.

He is an experienced external examiner and has held examiner roles at University West of England (MSc & BSc Radiotherapy & Oncology), University of Manchester (MSc Specialist Practice – Cancer Pathway), University of Liverpool (PgDip Radiotherapy & Oncology) and University of Malta (BSc Radiography).

Professor Khine is a Fellow of the College of Radiographers (FCR) for his outstanding contribution to the radiography profession. He is also Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators.

He read for his PhD in Radiography from City, St Georges’ University of London, where his research topic focused on the perceived impact of the consultant therapeutic radiographer role in clinical practice.

Teaching

At QMUL, Professor Khine teaches on:

He is an experienced supervisor for undergraduate,  postgraduate and doctoral (PhD) students

He is also an experienced PhD Chair and PhD examiner

Externally, Professor Khine is a Visiting Professor at City, St Georges’ University of London teaching and assessing across the 3-year BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography & Oncology programme. In addition, a Visiting Professor at Buckinghamshire New University teaching and assessing on the 2 year MSc (Pre-Reg) Diagnostic Radiography.

Research

Research Interests:

Professor Khine's doctoral thesis focused on the professional and organisational impact of the consultant therapeutic radiographer adopting a case study methodology.

His current research areas include advanced / consultant practice, practice education, gamification in education and the use of AI in education.

He is a qualitative researcher and has experience in research methods including focus groups, interviews, thematic analysis, and document analysis.
