MUTUA

Led by Dr Paula Serafini (SBM) and Nicolás Wainszelbaum (UNTREF), MUTUA is a space for collaboration between QMUL and the National University of Tres de Febrero (Argentina) that seeks to re-imagine the connections between culture and the environment.

The project emerged in 2022, having identified that guidelines and indicators for sustainability in the cultural sector were often imported from global north contexts and did not match the infrastructures, needs and aims of cultural organisations and makers in Argentina. We thus developed an interdisciplinary Laboratory methodology with the aim of co-creating situated approaches to cultural production that are rooted in anti-extractivist epistemologies, centering relationality and the making of new, collective infrastructures.

MUTUA held Laboratories in Buenos Aires in 2023 and 2024, and ran a pilot project at the Pasturas Festival of Transhumance in Mendoza in 2025.
