Location
Bamberg, nestled in Bavaria, Germany, is a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its medieval architecture and laid-back atmosphere. With a population of around 75,000, Bamberg brings in visitors with its historic landmarks, including Bamberg Cathedral and the picturesque Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) perched on an island in the river.
The city's cobblestone streets wind through markets, cafes, and traditional breweries, offering a mix of history and local charm.

Language of Instruction
German is the language of instruction and examination, as that is the target language of Modern Language students who study here, although there are a few courses taught in English. Detailed information about language requirements can be found here.

Winter Semester (WiSe) (semester 1): October – February (lectures taking place through February).
Summer Semester (SoSe) (semester 2): April – July (lectures taking place through July).

Credits
Students must enrol on a full courseload equivalent to 60 Queen Mary credits per semester / 120 for a full academic year. AMU uses the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), where 1 Queen Mary credit = 0.5 ECTS. Therefore, a full courseload at AMU is 30 ECTS per semester / 60 ECTS for the full academic year.

Rent and Deposit
The monthly rent includes a fixed charge for water and electricity (Betriebskosten). If actual usage exceeds this amount, the difference will be charged based on the final invoice issued upon move-out.
