New Exhibition: ‘Only women’ Botany at Queen Mary before 1939
A new exhibition of Queen Mary’s Archives and Special Collections has arrived.

You can find this exhibition in the Mile End Library, Ground Floor South Reading Room and the Second Floor Lift corridor.
The story of women in botany at Queen Mary touches on the history of plant science teaching and research, gender inequalities in the workplace and the relationship of science and colonialism.
On display you will see a variety of records and rare books from hand painted pages of a 1920s student magazine to the Queen Mary Council minutes that decided married women could work at this university. Come along to discover more about our heritage at Queen Mary.
Visitors to Queen Mary are welcome - you can get one off access to Mile End Library at the Welcome Desk.
The exhibition is open when the library is: 8am-midnight Monday-Sunday. Any changes to this are advertised on the Library homepage.
This exhibition will be on display until early January.
