Queen Mary’s School of Mathematical Sciences in the 2025 NSS

The School of Mathematical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London has achieved excellent results in the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS), with strong student satisfaction and improvements across all themes compared to last year.

The School ranks among the top performers in the Russell Group and in London for key areas of teaching and student support. It is ranked 1st in the Russell Group in London and in the top 5 across the Russell Group for course design, with 93.9% of students agreeing that their course introduce subjects and skills in a way that builds on what they have already learned.

Statistics students rated Student Voice especially highly, with the subject ranked 2nd in the UK, reflecting the School’s strong commitment to listening and responding to student feedback. The School also ranks in the top 10 among Russell Group universities for Learning Opportunities, reinforcing its dedication to providing an engaging and supportive academic environment.

Mathematics received particularly strong feedback in this year’s survey. Students reported high satisfaction with key aspects of their experience, including Learning Resources (88.2%), Academic Support (87.5%), and Learning Opportunities (84.7%). These scores reflect the effectiveness of the course structure and the support provided by teaching staff, suggesting that students feel both well-supported and intellectually challenged throughout their studies.
