Extremal Combinatorics

Supervisor: Dr Robert Johnson

Research Interest:

I am interested in applications for projects in the general area of extremal combinatorics.

Examples of possible directions within this include:

- Voronoi games on graphs

- Extremal properties of permutations

- Combinatorics of the discrete hypercube

but this is very much not exhaustive.

The details of the project will be agreed in consultation with the student and will be tailored to their mathematical taste and strengths.

These projects would be suitable for students with a strong background in combinatorics or graph theory, and a high level of mathematical creativity.

Funding Notes:

This project is open to candidates applying for EPSRC studentships.
