Many of the studentships on offer are jointly held by more than one academic school, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the research activity across QM.
As part of a small group of elite research institutions in the UK which awards UK Research Council funding, Queen Mary awards studentships based on funding from the AHRC, EPSRC, ESRC, STFC, BBSRC. These are allied to 40 Principal’s Studentships which are funded internally by QM.
Who can apply:
- Queen Mary ‘Principal’s Studentships’ are open to UK, EU and international students. They cover tuition fees and a maintenance allowance of around £15,000 per year.
- UK Research Council doctoral training studentships generally are available only to UK and EU students.
- Medical Research Council funding is open to both UK and international students; however international students will be expected to make up the difference between UK and international tuition fees.
- Students from China should take note of Queen Mary’s China Scholarship collaboration scheme.
Professor Evelyn Welch, Vice-Principal of Research and International Affairs at Queen Mary, University of London said: “Postgraduate Research Students are the life-blood of our future research success. With opportunities in a wide range of research topics, we are delighted to be able to support a growing number of research students from around the world.”
