Where: TBC
Speaker: Professor Paul Franks

PHURI Seminar Presented by Professor Paul Franks - Chair in Translational Medicine
Precision healthcare is frequently pitched as a powerful innovation for the prevention and treatment of many diseases. This proposition is supported by burgeoning evidence generated from the relatively recent availability of massive deep-phenotyped health datasets, often analysed using machine learning and other powerful statistical methods. Nevertheless, a major bottleneck is the successful translation of evidence into real-world settings, a process that requires precision healthcare is shown to improve health and wellbeing beyond current standards of care. In my lecture, I will i) introduce the concept of precision healthcare, ii) describe relevant research my team and others have performed, iii) discuss major translational barriers, and iv) overview our ongoing efforts to bring the best precision healthcare into practice.
